Our school nurse is now on site full time. Role of the School Nurse:
- Applies direct emergency first aid care to students
- Ensures compliance with school entry health requirements such as immunizations
- Liaises with Health Authority Abu Dhabi
- Implements recommendations of the Local Health Authority
- Liaises with parents and guardians of children with health concerns
- Promotes holistic care for all students
- Promotes a healthy school environment
- Provides care and case management for children with chronic health problems
- Monitors security and safe administration of medications
- Assures the health and safety of the school students and staff
- Provides health education and guidance to staff on health wellness programs
- Identifies school health needs and advocates for necessary resources

Please ensure that you have completed your medical forms, vaccination forms, and have provided the school with a copy of your original vaccination booklet. It is a requirement of enrolment to ensure that your child’s vaccination status is up to date. The school will not be providing the facility to administer immunisations. Please review this with your General Practitioner.
Students that require prescription medication at school will need to have a completed health care plan from your General Practitioner and an attached copy of the prescription. If you have any enquires please contact the school nurse.
Information on Influenza and H1N1 (7th September 2009)
There has been a lot of media coverage lately in relation to the Swine Flu (H1N1). BISAD will be following the recommendations of the Abu Dhabi Education Council (ADEC) and the Health Authority Abu Dhabi (HAAD). Two BISAD staff members attended a mandatory training session ADEC held and will be educating all staff on the process for managing and preventing Swine Flu (H1N1).
Important Information
Keep your child at home if your child has two of the following symptoms:
- Fever (>38C/100F)
- Sore Throat
- Cough
- Malaise
- Headache
- Diarrhea
- Nausea
- Vomiting
If symptoms worsen follow the below instructions:
- Seek medical attention immediately; take your child to the nearest healthcare facility (primary healthcare clinic, ambulatory healthcare clinic or hospital) not necessarily the Emergency;
- Limit your child’s contact with others and avoid close contact;
- Keep your child home from school for 7 days after symptoms begin or until your child has been symptom free for 24 hours (without medication), or whichever is longer.
