The Early Years is divided into two groups, Foundation Stage 1 and Foundation Stage 2. We follow the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS ) curriculum which focuses on six areas of development. These are;1. Personal, Social and Emotional2. Communication, Language and Literacy, 3. Physical Development, 4. Creative Development, 5. Problem Solving, Reasoning and Numeracy and6. Knowledge and understanding of the world. We explore these areas everyday through structured activities and purposeful play working towards the Early Learning Goals of the EYFS.Children are exposed to both Arabic and French through taster sessions that involve singing songs, reading stories, and using puppets. Sing and Sign is another activity children are exposed to which has been shown to improve children’s language development. Children also enjoy swimming lessons which are very exciting and develop children’s skills in the pool.We have a family style lunch together each day where siblings within the Foundation Stage eat together. Teachers and teaching assistants sit and eat with the children and help promote good manners and social skills. Each Tuesday children are exposed to new fruits and vegetables or other healthy food through our Taster Tuesday programme. We have small class sizes of no more than 18 children. The teacher plays a key role in providing your child with a safe, secure feeling at school which helps them to thrive. In addition, we have teaching assistants who work with all the Foundation Stage classes so there are always two adults present with a class. In addition specialist music and art teachers come in to support these areas of learning each week. As we believe the environment is the “third teacher” a variety of open ended materials is available to be accessed by the children on a daily basis. Bright, well resourced classrooms which feature both indoor and outdoor classrooms ensure that children access a variety of stimulating activities.
